E-Tech Notes #10: Private Notepad

We always have digital notes written on our mobile devices.

And there will be instances that we will write down crucial information on our notes. But what if these notes will be exposed or read by another person? Those information are at sake, so to prevent such things from happening, our class was introduced to an android application called “Private Notepad”.

It is very useful for encrypting a lock for your notes. And it has a feature of backing up those notes into your Google Drive, because there will be cases that you will loose your phone.

You just need to type in your desired password for all of your notes, and just simply remember it, so that you won’t have a problem of opening any of your notes in the application.

For iOS, they already have an installed app called “Notes” by Apple, it also locks their notes and backs it up to their Apple ID’s cloud.

E-Tech Notes #11: Streetview

Have you ever been curious on what the Eiffel tower looks like?

How its feels to pass by the Golden Bridge in San Francisco?

or see if the Great Pyramids of Egypt is really that great?

Have you ever wondered about this thing but have no budget for travelling?

Then just view it through “Streetview”!

“Streetview” is a Google application that lets you view a place, as if you’re really there. All you need to do is type the name of the landmark or the address of a certain place. But, not only can you view those landmarks, but you can even view the streets of your place!

Amazing, isn’t it?

The app is available for both Android and iOS. You can also view through a PC or Laptop by accessing the site “http://www.google.com/streetview“.

E-Tech Notes #12: Google Slides

Need a presentation, but you don’t have a Microsoft Powerpoint application?

Do not worry!

As long as you have a Google Account, you can make a presentation through an application called “Google Slides”.

This app is just one of the Google-made applications that instantly save your files into your “Google Drive”.

It is available for both Android and iOS, and you can also make and view your presentations through a PC or Laptop, just type in the link “http://www.google.com/slides“.

And in making your presentations more pleasing to view, just follow this 10 Slide Tips (techFactors Inc.’s E-Tech Book, pp. 82-84):

Just follow those tips, and guaranteed that your presentation will be a success, and gave information without making your audience bored.

E-Tech Notes #13: Inkwire

In our world, today, there will be frequent instances that you will have to demonstrate something from your phone to another person. And it will be more comfortable if the person you are demonstrating to, is seeing your phone’s screen through his/her phone. But how?

There is an application called “Inkwire”, only available for Android. This app can let another person view your phone’s screen through his/her phone. Another person can easily view it if you allow the application to share your screen and tell that person the PIN.

It is very handy and easy to use. It is also free!

E-Tech Notes #14: AirDroid

Another useful mobile application that was introduced to us, in our class, is an app called “AirDroid”.

It is an Android app that helps you manage your Android phone or tablet from a web browser. It is also available for iOS devices, but some features aren’t available, such as viewing your phone’s screen through an AirDroid feature called “Screenshot”.

It is very helpful through the means of demonstrating something from your phone so that another person may understand it better, sort of like the previous app called “Inkwire”. It is also helpful through the means of accessing your device at times that your phone is being used by another person, but you have to urgently access or open a text message, e-mail or etc.

E-Tech Notes #15: Microsoft Office – Word

Microsoft Office offers different Office Applications, and one of them is the Word. It is a Word Processing Application, and as a Senior High School Student, it is important to recognize every parts and uses of this application. Because in SHS, you’ll be tasked to different Researches, and if you want to survive, you’ll have to befriend this application called “Microsoft Office Word.

This application has many versions, but having the latest version is highly recommended. It is Available for Windows OS, MacOS, and luckily, also in pocket versions for Android OS and iOS devices.

In our E-Tech class, I was able to perform different tasks, such as:

  • Drawing a formula in a word document
  • Adding Charts to a document
  • Saving a document file as a PDF
  • Protecting a document file

It is very handy and even though I have already learned all of this beforehand, there were also new things I was able to learn. And most especially, I was able to realize that Protecting your own document is very essential, so that nobody may steal information from your work without giving credits to you as the author.

E-Tech Notes #16: Microsoft Office – Excel

The Microsoft Office also includes a spreadsheet application. It is a very useful application for inputting data such as Grades, Score sheets, Pay rolls and Inventory management.

On our Junior High School experiences, Excel was useful for database purposes, for the intention of keeping important data for the use of other applications.

This year, on our 1st semester of Senior High School, we were able to experience Excel in something that will be useful for our future. Some of us may become future teachers, contest judge, accountants, bookkeepers and data analyzers.

And so, we we’re tasked to finish the following Performance Tasks:

  • Computing Score sheet data for a Cooking Show (techFactors Inc.’s E-Tech Book, p. 59)
  • Computing a Class record (techFactors Inc.’s E-Tech Book, p. 80)
  • Computing Payrolls
  • Adding a checkbox to a worksheet
  • Adding a drop-down list
  • Protecting a worksheet

We we’re able to finish the task through analyzing and exploring different MS Excel Formulas. Personally, for an Accountancy, Business and Management Student like me, I find this activity very useful because it helps me keep track data and get the result more quickly.
